HOW MANY PEOPLE WATCH THE BALL DROP IN TIMES SQUARE?

Typically, over 1 million people gather in the heart of Times Square to celebrate the New Year in-person. Additionally, over 1 billion people watch the Ball Drop from home, making this the #1 event you don’t want to miss!

WHO’S LEADING THIS YEAR’S EPIC COUNTDOWN TO MIDNIGHT?

WHAT TIME DO THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN?

The celebration will begin around 6PM EST. To kick off the festivities, the famous Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball will be raised to the top of the pole at 1 Times Square (Broadway at 43rd Street). At exactly 11:59PM EST, the Ball will make its 60-second descent down the flagpole to signal the start of the New Year.

HOW MUCH CONFETTI IS DROPPED IN TIMES SQUARE?

More than 1 TON of confetti is dropped in Times Square to ring in the New Year!

The Annual New Year’s Eve celebration is a free event open to everyone on a first-come, first-serve basis (as long as you have proof of vaccination and a valid photo ID).
